Squeeze's Second Album

Its been an awesome week. Shot Stan Lee, Daft Punk and Warpaint on consecutive days and then had an amazing book event in MPLS. Thanks to everyone at Fifth Element and Gingko Press for their hard work on that.

Aloe

Just got an awesome package from Stones Throw of all the Aloe Blacc vinyl and posters. So cool. Really proud to be a part of this project and to see it taking off. Egon sent a CD and asked me to shoot Aloe a ways back. Half way through the first song I emailed him back and enthusiastic yes. Something grabbed me right off the bat. During the first of two shoots i did with Aloe, we did a set up where I needed him to actually sing during the shot. The room was dark except for one spot light and a lot of smoke. He started in and the whole place got real quiet except for his stunning voice. Absolutely amazing. Sent chills. It was one of the moments that reconfirm why I do anything I do. A true highlight of all the years I've been shooting. Congratulations to Aloe and Stones Throw and all involved. I hope it keeps moving like it has.
In the corner you can see the proofs from the new Atmosphere shoot I did last week. Shot 3200 on an old F3. Felt great. The book I published about them is coming out in two weeks. More info on its release to come

WORK

My friend Gloria Noto has released the 3rd Issue of her brilliant online magazine called Work. There is a launch party tonight in LA so if you can make it check it out. I have two stories in this issue and I am thrilled. Thanks Gloria!

Timing

So in 1998 i walked up to this guy Sean I had met recently and asked the somehwhat akward question "Hey you want to go cruise around and take pictures some afternoon?" For what ever reason he said yes. 12 years later I have published my first photo book documenting a decent chunk of Sean's journey from record store clerk/pro coffee drinker to Indie Rap figurehead/pro coffee drinker. This weekend, in Minneapolis, 100 copies of the limited edition version of this book will be available at the Atmosphere shows at First Avenue. 50 copies a night. I have yet to hold it in my hands. I am kind of scared of other people being around when I finally do as the trip getting this book published has been a long and crazy one. Thank you so much to the many people involved: Kai and Andy, David and Bryan, and of course Sean, Siddiq, Jbird, Skye and all of Rhymesayers.
